Even though I’m not a fitness blogger, I get questions all the time about ways to exercise and stay in shape. It must be from all of my posts about working out and being outdoors! Regardless, I believe there’s no time like the present to catch up on your workouts and set personal fitness goals. The best way to start is figuring out what, exactly, you want to be doing—especially being indoors with ample time to work out, thanks to this quarantine. I’ve been doing home workouts for years, and can attest to some great methods. These have worked for me, but I believe they can work for just about anyone!
- Peloton Bike
If you’re missing your daily SoulCycle classes, or wanted to try cycling with less eyes in the room, this is a great way to work out at home. An exercise bike like Peloton (or a similar model) allows you to cycle with a range of long or short workouts to improve your cardio at any level. It also connects you with live or on-demand workouts with trainers if you want, so you still get the full class experience without leaving the comfort of your home.
- Kettlebells
When I was feeling tired of just cardio, I began switching up my home workouts with kettlebell exercises. It totally paid off—I realized I needed more than just one kind of exercise to reach more fitness goals for myself! Kettlebells are stimulating for your muscles, but let you build speed and endurance in addition to strength. These are mainly used for core training and flexibility, but I use my kettlebells whenever I need a change of pace in my workouts. There are lots of great classes online, but you can find hundreds of amazing tutorials and routines on YouTube too.
- Online workouts
Online workouts have been my saving grace during quarantine. I love being able to exercise with Sensazao dance classes or Body by Ginny strength training over Zoom and Facebook Live! There are tons of daily, weekly or scheduled home workouts you can do online through any platform. For example, an online yoga class is great for increasing your flexibility, and you can improve your strength training with weights workouts on YouTube. You just need to find the one(s) that work best for you and your fitness goals, and you’re good to go!
